When it comes to the task of designing a bathroom, researching the brand of product that works for you, the options are plentiful and sometimes overwhelming. Below are some frequently asked questions that we receive when we arrive to bid a project, and some others we get during the install.
WHAT TYPE OF TILE WOULD YOU RECOMMEND?
This a broad question that we answer back with several of our own questions. Is it going on the shower wall? What type of look are you trying to achieve? Do you have dogs or children? With so many options for tile and stone we can help you navigate to the best product for your design.
Concerning shower walls, many people want a larger tile such as a 12″x24″ with small grout lines. This helps with upkeep and minimalizes maintenance with fewer and smaller grout lines. Patterns with the 12″x24″ can give off a very modern and clean look to a shower or floor.
Family can be a wonderful challenge sometimes and one thing that shouldn’t be is taking care of a new tile or stone surface.
With large dogs or several little pairs of feet running around certain tile and stone would be recommend against as they may stain or damage easier that other choices. Engineered Quartz is one of the strongest and most durable materials for solid surfaces, perfect for accidents and normal wear&tear from fun and family. Porcelain tile is quartz equal in regards to tile. A strong surface that comes in all rages of colors, sizes and finishes.
DO I NEED TO SEAL MY COUNTERTOP’S?
Yes, we highly recommend to have the stone surfaces of your house sealed. Types of stone such as granite, marble and limestone among a few are porous and some more than others. Cooking oil, coffee, wine are just a few that can leave marks on a stone surface if left alone. Sealers will help prevent and defend against stains. Each sealer manufacturer has its own recommendations for the frequency of reapplying the sealer to the surface. If sealing a surface yourself make sure to educate yourself about the application process and to use the correct product’s for the matching surface.

We also manage the timeframe of the project buy arranging for start of the project to coincide with the arrival all necessary material. Tubs, light fixtures and tile can take some time to receive and we eliminate that down time by working with the materials a you’re schedule.
WHAT TYPE OF GROUT SHOULD I GO WITH?
With each type of tile their is a recommend type of grout. Sanded or non sanded, epoxy or urethane based are the most common. A hallway or kitchen floor we would recommend a epoxy product as it is “bullet proof” when coming to stain resistance and durability. For a vanity backsplash of tight set glass tile we would recommend a non sanded product to help show off the glass and minimalize grout joints. Each manufacture has its own color wheel for the grout they offer and that can help achieve a certain look or accent a design feature.
